As all of us know Windows 8 has got its own version of store for Windows based Metro apps the “Windows Store”,but a company named BlueStack which is been working on bringing the large app base of  Android Apps to Windows Platform courtesy their  Layercake technology.

Rumored Windows 8 beta Road Map Leaked

With the release of Windows 8 beta version of OS nearing its release date, speculations of a leaked road map of its release are churning in the rumor mills. With Windows 8 still in its pre-beta phase of development there is constant growth in curiosity amongst developers and users likewise. A couple of days back, Winunleaked.tk claimed that the current version number for Windows 8 has reached to 8176.But now the very same web site claims to have acquired Microsoft’s current development road map for Windows 8. It claims that from now until January 23, Windows 8 will be considered to be in pre-beta form at Microsoft. On January 23, Windows 8 will go into what is known as Beta Escrow.

The article also has the knowledge that,  Microsoft testers will then vote on which of the Windows 8 builds will in fact be the final beta build with the decision being made on January 28. Finally, the article claims that the beta build will be shown at an internal Microsoft preview on January 30. The target build number for the final beta will be 8200.winmain_win8b1.

However, Microsoft has still remained quite on this issue and continues to maintain a certain level of secrecy about its timeline of the beta release, but if true, the timeline certainly tracks with what Microsoft has already said about the Windows 8 beta being released to the public in February. Microsoft’s CES 2012 keynote address, to be held later today in Las Vegas, will give some indication as to what to expect from the software giant with respect to its Windows 8 release plans.

Run Android Apps on Windows PC Courtesy BlueStacks

Did you ever imagine running Android apps on your Windows PC?Well this has indeed been achieved thanks to this latest application to hit the market from BlueSatcks. The BlueStacks App Player for Windows PC is a free ware that allows Android users to run their favorite apps on Windows PC.

BlueStacks running on Windows 7

The applications can run full screen on a desktop PC using a new type of virtualization. It allows Windows users to run a maximum of 10 pre-loaded applications.According to the company,it took ten engineers, two years to build this technology. It also allows graphically advanced games like Angry birds and Fruit Ninja (built for ARM) to run full-screen without any special developer porting for the first time.

Bluestacks is aiming to accumulate around 1 million customers downloads and is founded by former McAfee CTO and Cloud.com board member Rosen Sharma. The BlueStacks App Player will also interact with the company’s Cloud Connect software for Android. On installing a gadget onto a Windows 7 desktop the App Player can be operated. The gadget then provides access to the variety of  inbuilt Android applicationsand the ability to download additional apps.

This approach by BlueStacks has attracted some strong initial partners too. Pre-loaded applications in the alpha release of the software include Bloomberg, LivingSocial, Huffington Post and Creative Mobile. Furthermore, the company hopes to attract more developers in future thanks to its unique proposition. A lot of app developers will see this as an opportunity to get their Android apps into the hands of millions of Windows users.

This is an early look at the company’s work but the firm is looking for substantial  feedback for future software updates. There’s also a Mac version of the application in process. “The openness of Android is enabling innovation around the world. We are grateful to Google and others for their contributions. This is also a social equalizer in the US and countries like Brazil, India and China, where a large percentage of the population who can only afford smartphones can now enjoy and benefit from the ubiquity of apps on the Android platform,” said Rosen Sharma, President and CEO of BlueStacks. “We look forward to getting feedback from our users on the alpha release.”

Windows 8 User Interface, codenamed as “Wind”?

A post by Windows 8 Italia mentioned that the Windows 8 will have a brand-new User Interface codenamed as ‘Wind’ .

The interface, codenamed Wind, will be the evolution of Windows 7 Aero Peek. Wind will initially only supported by high-end notebook and desktop PCs with dedicated video card, as it will require about 170MB of video memory, but Microsoft is definitely working to reduce it’s resource consumption. The new UI would only work with the 64bit version of Windows. Microsoft is also working on another interface which will focus on less powerful computers and will be the only interface available for Windows 8 32bit.

Wind in their two versions will be fully dynamic, able to adapt to the user’s habits and operations in particular will have two types of dynamics: the first will create shortcuts when necessary and available in certain scenarios, speeding up certain tasks. The second adapts the interface of Windows 8 according to daily activities that we do with computers.  Even the icons will be smart and automatically adapt to user needs.

According to the sources Windows NT will also be abandoned in the next version of Windows 8.

The site also states that “a possible OS-based Cloud Computing would not be called Windows 8 and would be an entirely different operating system”. What OS would it be?

Windows 8 New Feature: Desktop as a Service

With information about Windows 8 remaining almost non-existent, Mary-Jo Foley has reported some interesting slides that tend to indicate that windows 8 will feature your “desktop as a service”.

This will be a  strong pointer towards more virtualisation support for the desktop OS.  Already Windows 7 allows you to boot into a VM containing a copy of Windows 7 Enterprise  or Ultimate just as you would book into a normally installed copy of Windows.  After trying  this you simply cannot tell that you’re working inside a virtual machine.

what is a virtual desktop 400x288 Windows 8 to Feature Desktop as a Service

The virtual desktop takes things one step further with applicationss and data being centrally managed and “delivered” to your computer rather than being explicitly installed on it.

desktop as a service in win next 400x260 Windows 8 to Feature Desktop as a Service

There’s precious little information at the moment but it’s been clear for a while that more virtualisation would be key to Windows 8 (referred to in the slides as Windows Next) and it’s also worth noting that a great many future features for Windows products never make it past, or even into, the beta.

It’s an interesting concept though to allow complete virtualisation of an OS, especially where stability and compatibility issues are concerned.  Microsoft should be applauded for taking this issue so seriously for the next version of Windows. Yet again another great move by the Microsoft team.

Windows 8, To Sync Files in the Cloud?

According to Ghacks.net, one of the latest rumors on the Internet about Windows 8 is that Microsoft planned to sync the core of Windows 8’s operating system files in the cloud.

Well, this may be a good news for users because they do not need to manually update or rely on the Windows Automatic Update service or Windows Update utility to update their Windows operating system, and they do not need to undergoing system reboot in order to let the system update take effect. All system updating process takes effect upon syncing system files. Microsoft can also detect pirated versions of Windows operating system through syncing system files, and it won’t be long when someone figures out on how to set to always use backup kernel files instead of syncing it.

Besides that, a copy of current operating system files are stored in the system if Internet connection is absent. Once Internet connection is established, Windows will automatically syncs the core operating system files so that the system will stay up-to-date.

There are many benefits of this service to all users, there are also negative effects to users. Users who doesn’t have a 24/7, uninterruptable Internet connection may face problems with system files syncing, hence unable to receive the latest update offered by Microsoft. Besides that, this may cause problems to users who still rely on or using dial-up connection today.

Overall speaking, this causes problems and benefits to us, users. Of course, this is a rumor which haven’t verified by Microsoft YET. Perhaps we may see some improvements about it in the future? Or is it a truth?
