This might not come as a surprise as Microsoft had already began their work of unifying their desktop and mobile operating system when they announced common kernel for Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8 operating system.
Now as per recent reports coming from Digitimes, they are moving one step further into unifying Both the platforms with the upcoming release of Windows Blue.As per their sources Windows Blue is being developed by an independent team in an effort to merge Windows Desktop OS and Windows Phone OS to compete against Google Android and Chrome OS.
Tthe industry observers think that Microsoft is greatly concerned about PC Vendors involvement with Google Android based Notebooks due to its confidentiality to avoid pressure from Microsoft.
Though this move by Microsoft and Google would pose a great difficulty for the makers to integrate technologies to make them work together seamlessly.

We have been hearing a lot of numbers these days, first we got the news about over 4 million licences for Windows 8 and then over a month of launch of Windows 8 we got the 40 million licenses sold update for Windows 8.
But all this time the one Microsoft product that was missing was their Windows Phone.Though Steve Ballmer indicated earlier that Windows Phones are selling 4 times faster than last year’s fourth quarter, there wasn’t any number sharing for the same.
Now according to the recent Facebook’s Monthly Active Users data gathered by WMPU,indicates that this might very well be the record breaking quarter for Windows Phones.According to the stats, there are over 627,000 monthly active users after October 1,2012,which is coincidently 4 times greater than last years figure of around 150,000 MAU.
According to last years Gartner Survey,Actually sold devices(not including shipments) were around 2.759 Million for the Q4 2011.This data suggests that there are already over 7 Million Windows Phones being sold as of now and by the end of the quarter the figures may reach 10 million count.
If these numbers do translate into reality, then this would be a record breaking quarter for Windows Phones and a sign of things to come.
If you thought that you couldn’t buy a new Windows Phone 8 device below $300 and would have to pay a buck load of money to have one in your pocket? well not anymore.

In the build up to making Windows Phone 8 a huge success, Microsoft is leaving no stone unturned by firstly, opening up registration for Windows phone 8 SDK and now revamping the marketplace into the Store. According to the latest post on the official Windows phone blog, Microsoft is in all readiness to attract more users for its upcoming product.According to Mazar Mahmood, Microsoft employee who authored this post, Microsoft will be rolling out these changes beginning with Australia and New Zealand, and in the weeks ahead, gradually around the world.
He shows us some improvements which are meant to be in the new Store.Firstly, starting today Microsoft will be retiring the name Marketplace and renaming it to Windows Phone Store.
In addition to its new name, the Window Phone Store also has a few improvements designed to make finding great apps and games for your phone even easier. The Search box is better, since it now relies on the Bing search engine to supply results. The cool thing about relying on Bing search algorithm is that it’s designed to learn from all the searches people do and will actually get smarter over time, returning more relevant search results. The online Windows Phone Store not only clarifies labels such as, New, Free, Top Apps and adds some new browsing options to make finding apps even easier. The renamed and improved New+Rising list is not only refreshed more frequently, but takes into consideration how quickly an app is being downloaded. A new addition to the lineup is “Best Rated” that ranks apps based on customer ratings and actual usage patterns.
The Spotlight area of the Windows Phone Store, meanwhile, showcases a mosaic of recently-published apps chosen by Microsoft’s in-house experts.
Along-with these, other improvements include apps with overtly sexual content to be a little less prominent on your virtual shelves. Also, Microsoft will be adding a mechanism for reporting apps that concern you.
Microsoft is trying very hard to improve the user experience and will continue to add such innovative methods to make the Store an easier and fun place to search for apps for your Phone.
Microsoft has started accepting registration for the Windows phone 8 SDK and has asked developers from across the globe to participate and create quality apps for the the Windows phone 8 which is scheduled to release later this year. Microsoft’s Todd Brix has authored a post on the Windows phone blog in which he has urged developers to come join in for Windows phone app development.
Microsoft has limited the SDK, by not releasing the the entire SDK to the development community and it states the reason:
The reason is that not all Windows Phone 8 features have been announced and our SDK includes comprehensive emulators that allow developers to test apps against a wide range of Windows Phone features. We recognize that this is a different approach to delivering tools than we’ve taken in the past. Our goal is to generate as much Windows Phone 8 excitement as possible to attract new customers when phones go on sale. This is one of many steps we’re taking to help give you what you (and we) want most.
The Windows Phone SDK 8.0 is built on top of Visual Studio 2012, and will give you the ability to build applications and games that target both Windows Phone 8 as well as Windows Phone 7.5. Windows Phone SDK 7.1 can be installed side-by-side with Visual Studio 2012 and runs on Windows 8.
To apply, please visit the Microsoft Connect site and complete a short application. Be sure to have your Developer ID and Application’s Product ID on hand, as well as the name of your local Phone Champ (if you don’t know your local Phone Champ, you can always get in touch via theFind My Champ app).
