It was almost a couple of weeks ago that we reported about the windows store crossing 25,000 apps.
Now according to the third Party site Metro Store Scanner which scans all the apps from the Windows Store,tHe store has crossed 30,000 apps mark, with currently 31,717 apps in the Windows Store as of Monday 17th December.
If we categorise the apps, there are as many as 30,945 apps supported by Windows RT platform which is almost over 90% of the Store apps.Talking about the reginal app count, the China Store still leads with over 21,000 apps with the close second United States featuring close to 20,000 apps in their Windows Store.
With this rate we can expect the store to reach the 50,000 apps mark by the end of January or even earlier than that,as we inch closer to the Surface Pro launch.
Last week Microsoft announced that they will be expanding the surface RT distribution with new non-Microsoft channels to make the Surface RT reachable to more people around the world.
It seems that they have already started rolling out their Devices through multiple retailers. As reported earlier by Neowin, some of the retailers from France has started the sales of Surface RT on FNAC stores. So if you are in France and itching to get your hands on the new Surface RT, now is the time to do so.
This is definitely a good move by Microsoft, after few early reports indicating poor show of Surface RT tablets due to lack of distribution, this new distribution strategy would surely help the Surface RT to extend its reach.
Surface RT tablet was released just about two months ago and it has been a mixed bag in terms of sales, with earlier distribution strategy of limited stores and holiday stores, making the software giant to change their distribution strategy and expand their distribution through non Microsoft channels.
As reported earlier by Microsoft-News,Recent Survey from Park Associates indicate that the Demand for Surface is down from Q3 2012(45%) to Q4 2012(21%)people interested in buying the Surface RT,mostly due to the announced specifications and pricing of the Surface RT devices later. However the Surface RT is still the 3rd Most popular Tablet with 21 % of the users intending to buy the Surface RT,just behind the Kindle Fire which has 24% interest and the topmost iPad 2 with 44% consumers interest.
Despite of the price difference Surface RT still beats the Nexus 7(cheaper android tablet) by almost double the margin, with only 12% of the US consumers intending to buy the Nexus 7 tablet.
with Surface Pro launch right around the corner,Microsoft might need to rethink on the Surface RT pricing which definitely has the potential to gain more marketshare in the Tablet business which is currently dominated by the Apple iPad.
Windows 8/RT is just over a month and a half old and the Windows Store doesn’t have the Google Apps just yet.Google is also not in a mood right now to release their apps on the new Platform as of now.

As reported earlier by CNet,the Search Engine giant doesn’t have any immediate plans for Windows 8 app launch.Talking to Tech Publication V3 Google Apps Product Manager Clay Bavor said that their products won’t come to the platform anytime soon.
Here’s what Clay Bavor said in the interview,
“We have no plans to build out Windows apps,” “We are very careful about where we invest and will go where the users are, but they are not on Windows Phone or Windows 8,”
He also added that,if Windows 8 platform gains scale then they would obviously bring their apps on the platform.
This is contrary to the previous rumors floating around the web which suggested that Google has completely ruled out the Windows 8 apps.It is to be noted that they have already released the native Search app and Windows 8 version of Chrome Browser.Hopefully we would see the other apps making their way onto Windows Store in near future.
Just days after the initial Surface RT launch there were issues with the Touch Keyboards,to which Microsoft was quick to respond with replacement of the Touch Keyboard.
Now it seems like according to SurfaceForums some of the users are now facing Faulty Magnet issues with their Surface RTs.Many of the users in the forums are reporting that the issue is with Weak Selo Tape which is attached to the Magnets which gets attached to the keyboard.
So if you are facing an such issues please contact the Support Forum ASAP to get your replacement for the faulty Surface Parts.

Last week we reported that Microsoft is thinking about expanding their distribution strategy and yesterday they officially announced the Increased Production and Expanded Distribution of the Surface RT tablets to cater the demand for the tablets.
In the official Press Release,Panos Panay, general manager, Microsoft Surface said,
“The public reaction to Surface has been exciting to see. We’ve increased production and are expanding the ways in which customers can interact with, experience and purchase Surface,”
Surface will continue to be available for purchase at all Microsoft retail stores in the United States and Canada and the online stores in Australia, Canada, China, France, Germany, the United Kingdom and the United States. The company will also extend the holiday stores based on their recent success all of these locations into the new year. These stores will transition into either permanent brick-and-mortar retail outlets or specialty store locations.
This is definitely a good news considering the early reports of poor distribution of the Surface RT,so now the tablet could reach out to more people.

A couple of days ago we reported that,Microsoft could push the Surface Tablets through Non-Microsoft channels in order to change their current distribution strategy, though there wasn’t any official announcement about the same.
Now as reported earlier by Smarthhouse.com.au (via Microsoft-News),an Australian Retailer JB Hi Fi will start selling the Surface RT tablets from their stores Before the Christmas Holidays.
Here’s what Scott Browning Marketing Director of JB Hi Fi said,
“We have been talking to Microsoft for some time about selling their Surface tablet. It’s now a question of stock levels and whether we can get the device into stores prior to Christmas.”
He added, “This is a product that needs to be exposed to a consumer; they need to touch and feel it and only retail stores can do this. Online is a commodity sell and if a consumer does not know the product or has not seen it in store it is always going to be harder to sell online”.
As per the site, this move by Microsoft is not welcomed by the other Windows 8 partners and they feel that this would affect their own Android and Windows 8 tablet sells.
Let’s hope that this strategy works for Microsoft and would give a tough competition to the other Android and iOS based devices in the market.
