We had posted a couple of days back that Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 Service pack 1 RC has been leaked.Today just after the two days of leak,Microsoft has officially released the Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 RC.

Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 Release Candidate helps keep your PCs and servers on the latest support level, provides ongoing improvements to the Windows Operating System (OS), by including previous updates delivered over Windows Update as well as continuing incremental updates to the Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 platforms based on customer and partner feedback, and is easy for organizations to deploy a single set of updates.
Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 Release Candidate will help you:

  • Keep your PCs supported and up-to-date
  • Get ongoing updates to the Windows 7 platform
  • Easily deploy cumulative updates at a single time

    In order to download and install the Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 Release Candidate you must currently have a Release to Manufacturing (RTM) version of Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2 already installed.
    If you have previously installed the Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 Beta on your machine, you must uninstall the beta before installing the Release Candidate.
    Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 Release Candidate is available for installation in the same languages made available at original launch of Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2.

    We had mentioned in our previous article that Windows 7 SP1 RC has already been compiled,now the Russian site Wzor has leaked it.The Build number is 7601.17105.100929-1730 which states that the version was compiled on 29th September.

    Windows 7 family pack to release to the rest of the world today!!

    Today Microsoft will release Windows 7 family pack in all the other countries which are outside the U.S, although it will continue to sell in the U.S until it is sold out. The price for this family pack is $150 for three licences ($50 per licence) and is available in most electronic stores. Don’t delay as this offer is a limited offer as it was in the U.S.

    Windows 7 passes Phase-2 testing and is IPv6 Ready

    The University of New Hampshire Interoperability Laboratory has certified Windows 7 as IPv6 Ready, which confirms via third-party testing that the IPv6 protocol in Windows 7 complies with interoperability and conformance tests defined by the IPv6 Ready Logo committee.

    Windows 7 Service Pack 1 RC-Escrow leaked screenshots

    Apparently there has been no information available from the official sources,but sp3ciali5t has posted at Twitter that Windows 7 SP1 RC-Escrow with build number 7601.17104 has been compiled and is available to Microsoft partners and select testers. He has also posted couple of screenshots, just take a look here-

    If the Windows 7 SP1 RC Escrow has been compiled it means that Windows 7 SP 1 RC would be following soon and we could expect it within couple of weeks.

    Windows 7 themes now available on Bing Visual search

    Microsoft has launched Windows 7 themes on Bing Visual search. At present total of 83 themepacks are available on Bing Visual search.The themepacks are categorized as Animals, Arts and entertainment, Automotive, Branded themes, Holidays, Nature, places and landscapes. They are even categorized as Tags, Windows Colors and the number of wallpapers.
