This time around another leak has floated around the web courtesy Win8China,who supposedly got hold of the screenshots of the Final Build of Windows 8 RTM which is said to be the build 9200.16384.WIN8_RTM.120725-1247.They also got a glimpse of the Lock Screen of Windows 8 RTM.

Though the earlier rumors indicated a version number of 8888 but it seems that due to Microsoft’s complex rules for selecting the version numbers.According to TheVerge who also seconds this story reports that the final versions compile process started on Wednesday outputting SKU, language, and install variations.

The Windows 8 RTM release is expected anytime in the next week, while the final public version has been confirmed earlier this month by Microsoft which will hit the stores on the 26th of October.

9200 is a surprise. I would hope the sudden jump in build number was a result of including metro disabling options, but I think it is just to add more flowers.

so this is gonna be windows 9?

    • SvalinnAsgard

No not yet, Windows 9 will eliminate desktop Windows ENTIRELY… mark my words.

will windows 8 rtm be downloadable for public?   I wanted to install windows  8 Release Preview, but if RTM is close I don’t want to waste 3gb internet.   So will normal users without any subscription be able to download RTM release?

    • SvalinnAsgard

I doubt even subscribers will get their hands on the RTM.

So should I just go ahead and download 64-bit Release Preview? Me and my mom have been using the Windows 8 since Consumer Preview on a weak netbook. We had no problems at all. So. Now. I want to test it in my main laptop which is Dell XPS 15 gaming laptop. All the drivers I need are available. So what do you say?

        • SvalinnAsgard

Release Preview is better than Consumer Preview… well at least in terms of completion and stability. However, RP has some notable bugs–it is unfinished complex software after all. If you make a new partition dedicated to Windows 8 you risk nothing and there would be no harm in putting the RP on your gaming laptop. If it fails, you always have your old install since you made a new partition.

Now I do not know how the legal agreements for premade PCs and laptops work. Partitioning and installing a new OS may void your warranty with Dell or something. Best be sure of that first.

Well latest is always better for me. I know about dual-booting. That’s what I did with my netbook. At first I ran Win8 CP with Windows 7 Starter. Then I was sure that Win8 was already enough for me. So when Win8 RP came out I wiped out entire drive (it took me less than 10 seconds!!) and installed Win8 RP. I’ve a 4gb Cruzer edge – That’s my main tool for installing OS. I just get the ISO file and vroooom.

I also have to keep my Win7 active. Dual Boot is my only choice for now. Because I activated it in June 3rd. When windows 8 comes out I can upgrade it for 15 euro.

The reason I wanted to upgrade was that this OEM windows 7 is so lagging OS. My Intel Atom powered netbook feels much smoother, responsive although it can’t play any game. I uninstalled lots of bloatware, I even deleted McAfee which had 15 month activation (I activated and I’m still keeping the license) and installed Avast Free with malwarebytes. I can’t really use this slow win7 anymore. 2 and an half month is too much to wait for. So I guess I can download win8 iso now…..

That is why I never buy premade PCs. Build your own, you get much more for your money, and it is never loaded with garbage. Also, the idea that anti virus software and firewalls and all that nonsense are necessary is just flat out wrong. I have no anti virus software, trashed security center, trashed defender, trashed the firewall, and even browse shady websites. I never get viruses, ever, and I use my computer all day everyday. The secret is knowing what to execute and what not, as well as letting Windows install its security updates, and keeping your computer clean.

ahhh! you see when I visit “some websites” my avast blocks them. I’m sure there is something that is not good. Also I’m a bit of software pirate (I watch the movies in cinema or on TV) there are a lot of nasty keygens and crack that some of them have malware. But my avast doesn’t detect them it just opens it in sandbox. That’s when I need malwarebytes. It basically finds files that avast opens in sandbox.

Without anti-virus I’d be hacked already. No I don’t build desktop I don’t have a space. But this DELL OEM laptop is not bad. It has adobe software that according to dell is worth 89 euro. It has dell webcam software that can integrate with skype and does very cool tricks. It has wavemaxx audio software which improves audio quality (I felt it). But really It has only 4 useful software and I uninstalled over 27 programs with revouninstaller
