Windows 8 RTM Changes the StartScreen,Introduces Custom Background Pictures

As we inch closer to the Windows 8 RTM,there’s no stopping the leaks of the RTM builds.The latest one shows up some of the new features which were missing in the previous builds.

The latest leaked images of Windows 8 RTM courtesy Win8China,shows the Start Screen with an option to choose custom background pictures for the screen.In the earlier builds there were only color changes available to the Start Screen.As you can see from the screenshots above,you can see a palette which allows to choose the images as a custom Start Screen background for your Windows 8 Metro Start Screen.Though what the screenshots didn’t  tell us is that if we can add image from a source folder or only the provided images are available for usage.

Windows 8 Public release is confirmed for October 26th along with the release of Microsoft’s own Surface Tablet.We will also see the launch of Windows 8 devices from other manufacturers like HP,Dell,Samsung,Acer in the similar time frame.

    Knowing modern Microsoft, its going to be from a small selection of their choosing. In other words, flowers and strange creatures (those Windows 7 troll things are… disturbing).

      If you read deeper on WinChina they tell you there are only 20 to choose from:
      “Microsoft offers 20 kinds of texture package for the user to select the effect looks more like a “wallpaper”.”
      That is roughly translated from their crazy backwards Chinese language. Looks like I was right.

    You cannot add your own pictures. There are only a subset of vector-like pictures that change their colors based on your color theme, rather than the monochromatic in the release preview.
