The Removal Of Gadgets in Windows 8,Due to Security Issues ?

It was just a few days ago that we reported about the Desktop gadgets being removed from the Windows 8 Operating System,which is all set to RTM in the first week of August.

Recently Microsoft released an automated fix which disables the Windows Sidebar and Gadgets in the Windows 7 and Windows Vista.The article indicates that the existing Desktop gadgets in the Windows 7/Vista operating system have some vulnerabilities which might threaten the security of the System.So due to these vulnerabilities some of the suspicious gadgets from the unknown sources can harm your computer.

This might also be the reason behind ditching the desktop gadgets in the final version of Windows 8 (earlier they were included in the Consumer Preview and the Recent Release Preview version of Windows 8).This might also open the doors for the developers to build alternative Metro apps which can replace the desktop gadgets as well as they can avoid any security attacks to the system.

    Hmm. I saw this coming a long time ago.

    Is anyone else excited for the inevitable Linux takeover as Windows becomes a useless OS like Apple’s nonsense?

      There will be no linux takeover anytime soon if ever.All programs on the market are only made to work on Windows and Mac Os.

        Unfortunately, you are correct. That is the only reason I am not on Linux–open source software is good, but nowhere near what their commercial alternatives offer.

      more likely is the failure of windows 8 as a desktop OS then the return of windows 9 desktop  and tablet editions. Quite why we have to endure this pointless destructive attack on the desktop OS is beyond my comprehension. Microsoft appear to be incapable of doing anything correctly. YES we need a tablet windows OS, NO we don’t need a “one fits all”. I really do not understand what they hell they are doing with windows 8

        also its safe to say that linux will never be a competitor to windows in the home user environment. It’s been around for so long now and has failed on all counts to make an impact with home users as fundamentally, it’s not a home user OS, regardless of how much you try and convince people otherwise

           Linux has become quite user friendly and home user worthy as of late. However, as Michael said below, the lack of commercial software is the death nail for Linux. Until Linux developers start wising up and enticing companies to build software for Linux, and companies start to see the potential, Linux is lost.

          My comment above was more… wishful thinking than anything else.

         Exactly, no need to destroy desktop Windows. At least, not this fast anyway. IF these silly tablets caught up to, or exceeded the power of desktops, and metro was at least as usable as traditional Windows then it would be much better. However, tablets and metro are such a step backwards no one would ever think to replace the desktop with them… oh, right, Microsoft.
