[Rumor]Microsoft Getting Rid of Gadgets in Windows 8

First introduced in the release of Windows Vista a few years ago the Desktop gadgets followed it up with the Windows 7.But come Windows 8, we might not see the desktop gadgets at all!

Introduced in Windows Vista, initially docked into the sidebar, which later on vanished in the Windows 7 version of the operating system and the gadgets floated over the desktop interface, the gadgets were even present in the earlier builds of Windows 8 i.e Windows 8 Consumer Preview and the recent Release Preview.

According to Win8China,which claims to have got hold of an internal build 844x,has reported that the build doesn’t contain any references to desktop gadgets in Control Panel or even in the desktop mode as you can see from the above screenshots, the Gadgets option is nowhere to be seen.

This could very well turn out to be true,if we take a look at the things going around with Microsoft embracing Metro UI for its applications and the recent departure of Start Button. The abandoning of Gadgets would eventually draw developers interest in creating Metro based applications as an alternative to the Gadgets.

Microsoft should bundle Stardock’s Start8 because most customers aren’t going to know how to even access the Start Screen let alone how to shut down the computer anymore. This coming from someone who services and sets up computers for people who are simply computer illiterate.
