HP Will Release Only Intel Based Tablets Initially

Windows 8 is just a few months away from the release, where we will also see the release of Various Windows 8 based tablets based on x86 based processors as well as the ARM based processors.

There will be a bunch of hardware partners who will bring their version of Windows 8 based tablets like HP,Dell,Acer,Asus and Samsung. While some of the devices will be based on Intel based processors,we will also see ARM based tablets from many of the manufacturers including the newly announced Surface Tablets.

HP who is one of the partners for Windows 8 tablets has officially confirmed to Bloomberg that initially their version of Windows 8 tablets would only run on Intel based processors.Marlene Somsak, a spokeswoman of Hewlett Packard told them that their first Intel based tablet would focus on the Business Market.

Marlene Wrote in an email,

“The decision to go with x86 was influenced by input from our customers. The robust and established ecosystem of x86 applications provides the best customer experience at this time and in the immediate future.”

Some rumors claim that HP ditched the plans of launching ARM based tablets after the Surface Tablet announcement, but Somsak said that the decision to avoid ARM based tablets initially was made before Microsoft announced their Surface Tablets. Then again the question remains,as Microsoft already stated that the hardware partners were made aware of the product but there wasn’t any mention about when did they actually told the partners about the Surface Tablets.

At the launch we will see at least two of the manufacturers releasing ARM based tablets with Microsoft’s Surface Tablet and Asus launching their version of Windows RT based tablets later this year.
