Windows 8 To Usher In Cross-platform Workability

Amongst a variety of things discussed in the interview with  Microsoft’s Chief Financial Officer Peter Klein, at the Internet Conference by Goldman Sachs analyst Heather Bellini,Windows 8 was not to be left far behind. According to a video posted by Microsoft, the interview mainly consisted of Q&A session.

Excerpts from the interview are as follows:

When asked of the motive behind Windows 8′s Metro UI  Peter Klein stated,

Windows 8′s Metro interface will be part of Microsoft’s plans to bring that UI to other platforms. What we’re trying to do is develop a complete set of experiences across all device types, be they TV, tablets, PCs, phone, whatever. It’s unclear exactly what the ultimate device spectrum will be. In everything that we’re doing I think things have come together very nicely over the last couple of years.

He also mentioned of the experience of using Windows 8 would be same when used on either x86 or ARM-based hardware, however, there would be differences  “on the margin” between the two products.

Another way that Microsoft plans to link its various products together is with its merger with Skype. During the conference, Klein stated, “Skype extends that across all of our assets, whether it’s with Lync in the enterprise, or with Xbox Live. It’s something that really ties together all of our devices, a scenario that’s as universal as any.”

Microsoft’s ability to fully integrate Skype with its other properties may have hit a roadblock , as its said that, Cisco yesterday had filed an appeal in the General Court of the European Union stating that, while it isn’t opposing Microsoft’s acquisition of Skype, it would like the approval of  EU,also stating that, the purchase needs to be reviewed, with the possibility of new conditions being imposed.

    O HOLY LORDS!

I haven’t read so many lies from Microsoft since they prononced Silverlight  better than Flash platform…

Now – this is completely a lie.

Microsoft will NEVER create anything cross-platform !

They is buying cross-platform developements and abandone them as soon as possible – just to never  have such thing under the sky. There is more than 5000 cross-platform applications which were bought by them and abandoned.

Windows 8  were everyone hope that will unite apllications across all available processor architectures.
Actually it turns that it does actually unite something which looking cross-platform – based on HTML5 standart. Anyway it does not run smooth, neither can be aplicable for high level projects, neither for big games, neither even for something different than school class projects.

HTML5 cross-platform is one big lie, which is advertised widely by Apple and Microsoft just to took your money, and still you need to use complete different products across ARM and x86 platform.

There is currently only 1 REAL cross-platform, and it is called Adobe AIR.
Everything you have written on AIR is REAL CROSS-PLATFORM.

If Microsoft or Apple descide to took away from Adobe Flash and AIR – this will reveal the real truth behind their attentions. and we already sow the 1st part of abandoning Flash on mobiles, just after the meating between Adobe and Microsoft CEO’s.

Adobe Air is not cross platform as there is no longer any offical linux support. The only crossplatform languages are Qt (some support from ms), Python (no support), Java/Java script, html4/5 (try to think of any website that won’t work on linux/unix). Who cares if you can’t use flash on mobiles, we already have 3gp/html videos and flash games would be impossible to place on your phone (where is the keyboard/mouse)
