Shit smells, maybe you should clean your ass and see if you still smell shit.    I find it nice.

Before you download, there are a  few things to worry about

    1) No Upgrade of your apps if you are using windows developer preview. Only Keep Settings
    2) No More split screen, .no more pulling apps from the side of the screen
    3) Every switch between programs /apps is no longer simple, there is at least 2 /3 clicks to everything
    4) no closings of apps as promised, so tabbing is now a pain
    5)

Soon you will find that the once promising new interface is now a pain in the ass to navigate and work with.  At least developer preview had hope, and was actually fine to work with once you got used to it,   Does Microsoft not realize that most  users are not using phones.  Back to windows 7 Classic menu for me. Pitty. I was starting to like the idea of metro.

Just to let you all know, I installed the 64bit on the Vmware 4.0.2 build-591240.  The main operating in my system is Ubuntu 11.10 64bit.

Now to install it, I created a Virtual machine and selected windows 7 64bit and after that I burned the ISO into my DVD and started my virtual machine.  Installed without any problem and is good and running.  One problem though.  Where is the start option?  I have the desktop and the task bar, but the Start menu is not there.  I will play more with it, but it does run smooth so far in my virtual machine.

My system:  I set aside 12 gig ram and 8 core cpu for it

Downloaded and Installed – but what a crock of shit!  – Stick with 7 – The developers are trying to shove so much shit into their OS these days – Anyone remember “Longhorn” the Vista beta? Look what happened to that! – As it stands the interface is bad i would rarther lick a tramps underpants than use it! – MUCH work to be done – Simplicity is the key not all the shite!

    • AleX

Yeah,u r right.W8 is a piece of crap, its optimized for ARM based devices.
Why the fuck they are still keep the “Windows” name if the windows is based on MetroStyle?!
From Windows 3.1 until Windows 7,all OS-es was based on the “window mode”,aka the window where u work on.Not like the shit of W8,no more windows,no more good stuff.
Ok,i admit,W8 has new cool and usfull features, like the new TaskManager, and the refresh and reinstall options.
But WTF?We will migrate to XBOX OS?Microsoft says “Vista was the greatest mistake, bad optimized OS,all shits”,but i say that W8 will be the bigged failure of MS.

OK A few things to note that people are winging about

    1. To close Metro Apps click top centre of screen and drag down (works a treat)
    2. Start menu? has anyone tried right clicking when the mouse curser is in the bottom left corner of the display, theres a little surprise there trust me!

My Main issue is that my live ID starts with a number, works fine with xbox live, zune, hotmail act not with windows 8CP though :(

If you’ll be installing it in a VirtualBox VM you should turn on VT-x/AMD-V acceleration in your BIOS in order not to receive an startup error

  • Mat Perry

Alot like developer — Much more stable. I think its alright, I like how the start orb is gone, too.

I am using the machine default resolution is 1024 * 600 7 inch Tablet PC to install the “Windows Consumer Preview”, but I can’t use the METRO the UI, because the resolution at least 1024 * 768, so my suggestion is to improve or reduce the standard resolution of 1024 * 768, and then let Windows 8 can be used in more devices.

  • ??? ????

I am so disappointed Microsoft. But I think its not fair to judge a preview version.

    I like the MetroStyle though

  • Glen Barnes

Absolute cr*p :/ Even drivers and uninstall programs appear on the menu. And who ever decided that we wanted to go to desktop with a click? Thank you for the info though :) Uninstalled and HDD formatted.

Why does everybody hate the Consumer Preview? I LOVE it! You just need to get used to the metro interface! I used to dislike the metro start screen, but after awhile, I got used to it, now I LOVE it!

  • First_gal

    • Koopakiller

no, it is the Release Candidate, named Release Preview
also a newer version as beta.

  • wwwwilly

well as for mine go;s i downloaded win8 build 8400 ver 6.2 and it works perfect . first off i would make a suggestion get  a extra hd and an r driver and clone your existing drive use acronis home 2011 as your clone program very easy to use. This way if you do screw up you can go bk to the original copy of win you had before . two i did adirect download not an iso disc download , Once you have it installed and running THEN again using your ACRONIS dics go into the tools section and burn an os dics this way you have an os dics plus you have your old copy of win on the other hard drive plus win8 on your system. I have had literally no problems with win8 and i can split my screen i can put anything where i want it and the key board functions work fine like the windows butt + r opens run and so on there is a ton of shit in win8 once you get to know it . also may i add i used my secondary laptop just in case i messed up it is an aspire 5536 4gig of ram wit a 2,1 ghz cpu ql64 amd. NOW from the time i push the start button to the time iam on the net is aprox 15 seconds you cant even do that with a mac NO WAY good luck with it i hope you all have the luck that i have had with it
