A built in WebCam app has been found in Windows 8 build 7850 which allows users to take snapshots and record videos. As other features this app was also locked in Windows 8 but the MDL Forums user NaiveUser has unlocked it with registry hacks. this application is also unfinished and even doesn’t contain the close, maximize and minimize buttons. Even the settings and video recording isn’t working at present. Though this app has basic 3 features-
- Start or stop video capture
- Capture a photo without any delay
- Capture a photo after a short delay
To unlock WebCam app in Windows 8 build 7850 in registry HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\GRE_Initialize you have to create a DWORD value called "RemoteFontBootCacheFlags" and set its value to 0x100f (4111) then run webcam.exe
Update: We have created a tool, which would help you to unlock this and other features with a click. You can download the tool from here.
