Windows 8 Beta forums launched, win Windows 7 Ultimate keys

Today we are launching Windows 8 Beta forums, where you can share your thoughts, creations related to the upcoming Windows Operating system or simply hang out and share news articles or ask doubts about other technology related stuff.

We would be giving away a Windows 7 Ultimate key each month (till we are out of keys, don’t worry we have lots of them) to the top contributor of the month and other stuffs (may be softwares, tshirts, DVD’s) to other contributors .So go ahead and start posting.

Here is the link- http://windows8beta.com/forums

Update: The keys given in this giveaway are genuine keys and not from Technet and MSDN accounts.Top contributor of the month doesn’t means the person with highest number of posts, winners would be solely chosen based on the quality of posts.

I believe windows 8 should be backwards compatible for older games or have a windowed mode to operate them out of.  This feature should be easy to access plus I think that windows 8 should have a more in depth look at how the features work.  I have updated and installed the newer OS on far too many systems and then had a customer contact me back because they couldn’t figure out many options or wanted the older OS back. They should make it an option to look like a few of the other OS’ like XP and newer.  I feel that the 3D look is becoming popular but make that a compatible feature as well.  A registry tool, anti-spy ware, (with the prices of these things) an anti-virus with low sys resources should be included upon verification the system is legit, NOT NORTON- that crappy antivirus has locked my system down for no reason TOO MANY TIMES!  I, as a win7 lover, believe that the option for upgrade (transferring files) to the new OS should be a point and click feature upon setup.  I enjoy the looks that win8 is suppose to offer, however, they should make it easy for users to apply different visual skins and download them as well to personalize the system a little more to their liking.  Also, hardware should be easier or more user friendly to upgrade or install.  Plus maybe even a feature to link with other systems directly (like on a work bench) and not have to be through a LAN.  I could go on and on about different features and upgrades they should offer but lets keep it on the simpler side of things for now.  I feel this would be a good start though.  If there is a preview or an option to test drive win8 like they did with win7 that would be awesome, supporting a feature to just type your opinion and send without having to connect to a website for a blog.  I feel many ppl would love to preview this OS before making the switch and buying something that they end up hating a few months down the road….just saying.

I’m happy with windows 7 ultimate 64 bit, since it was given to me during the parties of it’s first release, and years i spent in the 7 beta program, I would like to beta the new windows 8 if given the chance. Hopefully a key for another 7 for my wife would be nice.

  • Ranqwar

Would love to go to Windows 8 either as a beta or as a full release. Keep up the work on an early release date.

  • http://nav9slatepc.com Gert Hough

Even though Windows 7 is a real power house of features and capabilities and a must have if you are still using Windows XP, I can understand the need for a more streamlined version of Windows for the latest boom in the sales of smaller computing technology such as slate pc’s. I expect much more features being developed befor the Windows 8 release date :-)

Since Windows 7 is already a finished quality product may be Microsoft Windows 8 will be the same thing just re-designed with less CPU demands on the CPU. Anything more will be as much a bonus as a surprise.

  • Rob

Hi there. I am an i.t. reseller and (mainly) repair/configuration engineer and consultant. A pre-release copy always helps you to stay ahead of the game and would also give me better armoury when my clients start saying they want a mac…..usually swayed by their trendy kids! For Windows to evolve along these lines while maintaining support for their existing userbase base is incredibly exciting. The iPad is the design icon of this millenium and has achieved this through significant moves towards a user-friendly u.i. Anything Microsoft can do to remedy this has gto be applauded. It would appear that MS is now using its’ considerable resources in a focussed and intelligent attempt to redress the public awareness of ‘ease of use’…..I wish them all the very best.

  • DirtyG

I just want basic things like. Media player to be able to read bluray disks would be a start.
Media center to read folders so i can sort out music and video into catagories (with a child
     lock option).
Spy ware and antivirus would be great because we all need it in some form, why not incorparate into
the high price ultimate edition (that wont support bluray).
Video compression and conversion software that works.
A media server that is simple.
Microsoft office should be in there too

I’d pay a higher price for an OS with these thing’s rather than spending many more hundreds on untrustworth third party software that clogs up my registry with CODEC’s and DLL’s.

Any way I want Bluray Support in Media Player mainly. Bluray bluray bluray bluray bluray bluray bluray bluray blurat bluray bluray bluray bluray bluray bluray bluray bluray bluray bluray bluray bluray bluray bluray bluray bluray bluray bluray bluray bluray bluray bluray bluray bluray bluray bluray!!!!!!!!!

Im up 4 win8 Beta testing and also need that key :-)

Did I mention any thing about BluRay Support

I really want windows 7.  Honestly I need it because this old outdated version of xp is not working for me.  I used to have the vista that came before windows 7 but my computer broke so I started using an old laptop and its style just aggravates me. So basically please give me windows 7.

DRIVERS, DRIVERS, DRIVERS!!! As a computer tech I am always running into problems with drivers. Either when troubleshooting PC problems or performing clean OS installs, it often takes hours to find the right drivers. Sometimes you go to the computer manufacturer’s site, and they don’t have the right driver so you go to the specific hardware’s site (ie. Broadcom, NVidia, Realtek, etc.) and they don’t have the driver so they tell you to go to the computer manufacturer’s site (where they don’t have the driver either). Then you have to see if, by some miracle, the Microsoft update catalog has the driver by typing in the device hardware ID. Windows 8 NEEDS to to completely improve how it deals with drivers. Windows Update does have many drivers, but that does no good if there is no ethernet or wireless drivers on a clean OS install. So, Windows 8 should have at LEAST more drivers for network cards so they can be functional right “out of the box”. Then all the other drivers can be downloaded automatically via Windows Update. Also, when Windows 8 comes out, and computer manufacturers like Dell, HP, Toshiba, etc… make new computers designed for the new OS, they need to still provide XP, Vista, and 7 drivers for their new hardware. There is no good reason not to provide XP drivers for those who want a new computer, but want XP. After all, XP is Microsoft’s best OS ever. I will be excited to see if Windows 8 can change that.

i just hope windows 8 can be easier to use than 7!

    • Computerrep

EASY!!! You think windows 7 was NOT easy!!!! how simple can you get!? try a Vtech os. (made for 2 year olds) and then you will see easy

    • Kyle Field

windows 7 was one of the easiest OS’s to use since 98 came out…it made Vista look like a complete waste of an operating system, considering vista had so many problems with its core software in the first place.

  • Kevintcook

I would love to beta test windows 8 as well. send me a iso and key please. Kevintcook@hotmail.com

As a tech, I would like to see an advanced user menu that you could access easily in a way that normal end users don’t know about, either through an easter egg of sorts, or a certain keystroke combo.  This menu would include tech stuff like the registry editor and other tools that normal end users should never have access to.

  • Jhaskins75

I am interested in knowing that if you presently have the development preview installed. will the beta 8 release be an upgrade that will retain the installed features and programs from the preview edition, or will you have to back up the preview copy and do a clean install of the beta 8 version
