Twitter Interview: Microsoft CEO in 140 characters

Achim Berg said via Twitter interview about Windows 7, Office and cloud computing, but also to growing Google’s competitors.
Achim Berg, CEO of Microsoft Germany, gave an interview with stern.de information about the new direction of the group. Special feature: The interview took place live on Twitter. Through the town, the rules of the conversation had already been given: For questions and also answer a maximum of 140 characters were available. So no place for long and evasive statements.

Good morning, Mr. Berg, nice that you have found a little time to talk. Welcome to the "Twinterview.

Good morning. Am also.

You must currently be quite relieved. After the launch of Windows 7, you have until the first service pack back, right?

True, but we still hear on the increase.

And what do you hear?

We only hear about Windows 7 really good – quite a wave of enthusiasm.

In Britain, surpassed Windows 7 at the pre-orders even Harry Potter. Surprising?

Yes, it was surprising – especially in the mother of Harry Potter.

Microsoft disappointed many customers with Vista, XP experienced a renaissance. As these customers are now to be convinced of the upgrade?

In an eight year old car you would not ask that question. Windows 7 is safer, quicker and easier – and fun.

Enough fun? According to a survey stern.de will install only 51 percent of Windows 7 – but this must annoy them. (The poll is obviously not an attractive setting)

I believe this number will increase further in the coming weeks. ;)

On the subject of planning certainty how long it has lasted until the release of Windows 8? The update intervals appear to be shorter.

We do not sleep. In between, there’s Update in the cloud – Watch out for Live Services.

(More information on the service’s live here.)

But how long we will still install Windows? If the cloud does not mean that operating systems will soon be obsolete?

Both worlds will continue to exist for a long time, and integrate itself more closely.

As you can see Google’s efforts to poach with Chrome free OS and Office solutions in the original business from Microsoft?

As for Chrome OS, I’m relaxed – that’s not, and the business model is unclear. We are more than competitive with Office – Office 2010 is in the starting blocks. With free offers on the web.

That’s it again, Mr. Berg has in the next appointment. Thank you for the "Twinterview.

Also I thank you. Has been super fun.
